Poverty Simulation at UW River Falls

The University of Wisconsin – River Falls – hosted a poverty simulation with the United Way of St. Croix Valley, Our Neighbors’ Place and JA Counter.  In the photo (photo credit Pat Deninger, UCM staff) Trevor Knitter and Elise Koop from UWRF Student Involvement, share materials with community participants at the start of the ALICE poverty simulation.  The event was held at the Lydecker Living Learning Center and was to encourage participants to understand the difficult daily choices encountered by nearly 1/3 of the population in our communities, not all of whom are in the threshold of federal poverty levels.
